Wireless terminal Solutions were delighted to be appointed this year’s official contractor for contactless card terminals to Brighton Pride 2017. The event which took place over the 4th-6th August, was a celebration with many tens of thousands lining the streets in Brighton dancing, partying and celebrating in the sunshine (and rain – which was fortunately short lived).

The 70 card terminals were predominately used at the bars which were located in and around the Preston Park venue. The general consensus amongst revellers at this year’s event, was 2017’s Pride was the best yet, and everyone revelled in the celebrations with people partying and dancing to a star studded line-up of DJ’s, artists and entertainers. The cosmopolitan crowd came together for this fantastic annual event.

In previous years, the organisers of Pride had used a vastly smaller number of card terminals to accept card payments, but with the unprecedented rise in contactless payments they felt it was imperative to have a strong contingency in place to support the bars at the venue, and keep customers happy.

All the bars at the Preston Park site are fully mobile, and serve customers across the three days.  When it came to accepting debit and credit card payments, they needed a portable payment solution that was not only reliable, but also available on a short term solution.

This payment machine delivers flexibility to the organisers, and allowed a reliable IP connection for the bars onsite through a dedicated internet connection.  Being such a busy event, it was paramount to the bar staff to have a reliable connection when processing customers payments. In essence it allows event organisers to reinvent the way they accept card payments.

The feedback was positive, and the majority of opinion was that having the additional card machines not only improved cash flow, but it also eliminated lengthy queues at the bar during peak periods at Pride.

The event organisers were provided with the latest portable card terminals, and were also given their own dedicated account manager who managed all aspects of technical support where necessary. The card terminals were delivered onsite to the Preston Park venue 5 days prior to the event to ensure everything was working correctly for their IT team. The card terminals were deemed a huge success and an invaluable tool to making the event run smoothly.
